Job Search

Job Search

There a range of ways you can search for job vacancies, they are being advertised in more and more places.

Here are some other ideas to help you get started

  • Contact your Medway Youth Trust Connexions Personal Adviser or drop in/make an appointment to visit our Connexions Centre in Chatham. We can discuss work or training opportunities with you.
  • Jobcentre Plus –nationwide network of offices which advertise vacancies and on-line via the website.
  • Employment Agencies – you register with agencies which will then contact you if a suitable opportunity arises. Most agencies do require applicants to be 18 or older
  • The internet –there are thousands of websites which carry job vacancies
  • Newspapers – local newspapers are a very good source of local jobs.
  • Shop windows – there can often be adverts in shop windows and at newsagents too
  • Use your contacts – talk to your friends, relatives and neighbours let them know that you are job hunting and ask them to keep a look out for you.

You can also contact the employers in writing ‘on spec’ (‘on the off chance of a job’). This means that an employer then has information about you and what you are looking for. By Identifying employers you want to target and getting the name of the relevant person to contact you can then send a personally addressed letter.
